2011 CLOSING DATE FOR WRITING AWARDSEntries for the 19th annual Wills Writing Awards close on 28 February 2011. The Awards are for creative writing around a horseracing theme by young people. There are prizes for the winner and runner-up in three categories – under 26s/19s/15s. The Awards, which are again chaired by Brough Scott, offer £3,125 in prizes, an expenses-paid day at Newmarket’s Craven Meeting on Wednesday 13 April, and the opportunity for the winners to be published. Employees of the national and racing press, in a journalistic capacity, are ineligible, meaning that the under 26 award represents an attractive opportunity for a young regional or student journalist.
