WILLS WRITING AWARDS 2010 SHORTLIST CHOSENA shortlist of 22 has been chosen out of the record-equalling entry of 169 – 10 of the 82 entrants in the under 26 category, six of the 48 entrants in the under 19 category and six of the 39 entrants in the under 15 category. Somewhat surprisingly, 14 of the 22 writers shortlisted are male, including 8 out of 10 in the under 26 category. That apart, the under 19 and under 15 categories are both evenly divided between male and female representatives. As with the entry (34 out of 169) but more so, Ireland is disproportionately represented – 7 out of 22 have Irish addresses (four in the under 26 category, one in the under 19 category and two in the under 15 category). By now, entrants should have discovered by email whether or not they have been shortlisted. Those who have not received such an email are invited to email willswritingawards@postmaster.co.uk. As to the future timetable, by Wednesday 31 March, those shortlisted will learn, confidentially, whether or not they are winner or runner-up in their category. On Wednesday 14 April, the results will be publicly announced and the awards presented at Newmarket Racecourse. |
